Cincinnati, United States
University of Cincinnati’s Fashion Design school offers a five-year BS programme, equivalent to a BFA, instead of the typical three to four. Upon graduating, students are able to enter the industry with significant work experience thanks to its co-op programme. With regard to academics, the school’s curriculum focuses on ethical designs and fashion history, examining early designers and their methodology and materials in order to design for the future. The University’s co-op programme — a requirement for all design students — places students in professional practice for a total of five semesters in a mixture small and large companies across the United States and internationally. The programme also exposes students to a wide creative range fashion markets, with the senior fashion show including children’s clothing and concept garments.
